LET’S MAKE THIS A PURPLE PATCH
With balance sheets in the red and the national mood as black as coal, it may seem counterintuitive to talk of this being the start of purple patch.
But I know from my own experience that when all seems lost and darkness descends, I have found ways to recover – not with small adjustments or increments.
But with a seismic shift.
When I talk to young people, I hear great ideas because they are, as yet, undefeated by life.
They don’t make the assumptions we make, and they don’t start with the status quo as a launchpad.
They are open and see the obvious.
They never say: ‘That’ll never work’ or ‘why bother?’
I have led many big creative events over the years and in the process, mined some extraordinary solutions from people.
I create a clean slate and offer examples of solutions created to tackle previously intractable problems.
We know in our heart of hearts that doing nothing is no option.
I predicted in 2019 that this period will be one of the most exciting in human history.
Nothing has changed my mind – this current crisis is the catalyst.
This is about tapping into our creativity.
The creative mind sees not what’s there but what might be.
The examples I use are mind-blowing and prove the point that in the darkest of times, we dig deep and find a richness that costs nothing, but yields high returns.
These are difficult times.
But they can also be the time of our lives.
Future generations depend on us making the right calls.
